Here is my story about my dream dress! From about the age of 11, or maybe younger, I have always wanted the pretty dress with the ribbon at the back which you tie up, and with a tight fitting top and a flowing skirt.

Then I watched the film 'Cinderella Story', and I had my dream dress in my mind from that point on!

My Mum started going on about the fact that I was only going to wear it once, it would be very expensive, and so I was on a low. Then I came onto your website, and looked for dresses in Gloucestershire, and there was a link to the website of a shop called qpid showgirl - and that's when I found the dress! It was just like the Cinderella story dress, but even had the tie up back AND at a low price. So I found my dream dress and I can't wait until my prom!

I was looking on your web site, and my mum saw a dress.  I was not too keen on it, as it is exactly like a fairy dress with a full skirt.  Well, when I went looking for a dress, I went to Masquerade in Brentwood (found out about it from the promdress.co.uk web site).  I looked at a few dresses, then I saw the fairy one I had seen on your site, and tried it on for a laugh.  When I put it on, I felt so special, and it fitted perfect in all the right places, and the dress was absolutely beautiful.  I have now put a reserve on it, and I am going to be wearing it to my leavers ball.  Thank you so much for making my special day even more special.  I have recommended this site to most of my friends, and they are all going to Masquerade.  I'll send pictures soon.

Thanks for your message.  We are trying to expand our web site for users in the rest of the UK, and we do now have some shops listed in Scotland and Wales.  However, we are dependent on shops contacting us and wanting to advertise with us, and some of the Scottish ones have been a little slow to approach us - if you know of any good prom dress suppliers in your area, let us know and we will contact them.

Hi - I really need your help. Most of the prom dresses I like are too expensive for me, can you suggest any shops or ways of finding a gorgeous dress at an inexpensive price?

Thanks for your message. Have you thought of hiring a dress? There are many shops around which do hire  prom dresses - so you can usually get an expensive dress at very low cost. The downside is of course that you have to return it after the prom - but hiring is definitely worth considering if you want a gorgeous dress at low cost.

I'm worried about my prom dress because I'm only just a size six, and I'm worried I might not be able to find one to fit.  Also, I want a chocolate brown halter neck and I've looked everywhere.  I can't find one, and I don't want to have one made.  Help!!!

Try the Linzi Jay page in the Prom Dress Catalogue on this site.  They do a couple of halter neck styles, and I happen to know that they do a chocolate brown colour in their range.  Attire also do some very nice halter neck gowns.  If you like their styles, go to the prom dress directory and start ringing the shops listed there in your area - tell them you have seen the dress on the promdress.co site, and ask if they can order one for you.

I want a prom dress which is a corset at the top and big at the bottom.  Preferably ivory with a pale flower print on the corset - do you know of anything like this?

Please keep looking in our Prom Dress Catalogue - we are getting more designers and manufacturers showing their gowns on this site all the time, and if you haven't found what you want yet, it may be on the site soon!  Remember also, when you are looking at the pictures, try to ignore the colour and concentrate on the style - the outfit you want may be shown already in say red, and may be available in the colours you want.  We normally show a photo of a style just once, in one sample colour, even if it is available in many colours.

I looked everywhere for my prom dress, as I really wanted an American style one.  I searched everywhere, but most shops just sold the bridesmaid dresses or just an evening gown. I eventually went to 'Special by Design' in Darwen, Blackburn. They didn't have any American style prom dresses but they did say they could make me one. So for £200 I am getting my own design of dress made, I can't wait!!  I get to choose a colour, style and any sequin/diamantes I want on it! My Prom is next year and I'm going with this really nice guy, but I can't find a dress! I need your help. I would like a boob tube with quite a short skirt - white, black or red in size 12 or 14.

You may have the best pair of legs in your year, but the School Prom is not usually the place to show them off! Forget the short skirt idea! The Prom is all about glamour and elegance - it is your one big chance to really dress up in one of the fantastic Prom Dresses that are now available.
Have a look through some of the Prom Dress pictures on this site - you can wear a short skirt any time, but you won't often get the chance to wear a full length Ball Gown! If you really want to show off your legs, why not go for one of the long prom dresses with a high split up the front?
Having said all that, maybe yours will be a very informal Prom, so the best thing to do is to check out what your friends will be wearing first, and go in something similar!

There is a shoe manufacturer listed there, and they do flat shoes (there are lots of pictures of them on their web site). Help! My prom is in May next year, and I'm really worried about the style of dress I am going to wear.  I'm really skinny and flat chested.  I'm size 6 and all of the dresses I have tried on are really baggy and don't flatter me at all!  I look really young, but I am 16!  What style of dress would you recommend for me?  I'm not into big puffy Cinderella dresses, but I quite like the idea of a long, slinky dress.  What do you suggest?  Thank you, Emma

    Thanks for your message.  We think you are probably best looking for a long straight dress, and one with a cowl neckline at the front can be quite flattering - although you need to try on a wide range of different dresses to find one that suits you, and one that you feel comfortable with.  If you look on our catalogue page, Attire do a wide range of lovely size 6 dresses (many more than we can show on our web site).
    Have a look in our prom dress directory for shops in your area (and beyond), and start ringing around.  There are some very helpful retailers in your area, and we are sure that you will find one to help.

I would like to thank Iconic of Lytham St Anne's for the wonderful experience I had whilst choosing an evening gown. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff, and the service and help were first class. I bought a blue Faviana dress, which over the phone Rachel said I would love. When I saw the dress in the shop, she was right, I loved it. I wore the dress on Friday evening 27th July, and the comments I got were untrue. I found my perfect prom dress after searching your site for shops,  when my Mum and I went to Stratford for the weekend. It had to be really special as I am Head Girl of my school and I have to have the first dance with the Head Boy.  I found my dress in a shop called 'Dress Rehearsal', listed on your Warwickshire page. It suited me to perfection and fitted amazingly well. I'm very petite, so it was difficult, but it is the most beautiful dress in the world and it makes me feel like a princess. My friends are all jealous of it and how I look in it, and I know I am going to steal the night in it. I love my dress!!  The service in Dress Rehearsal was amazing, and the people there were so friendly. Thank you for helping to make my day special.

Have a good look in the prom dress directory section of this site - there are quite a few advertisers there who are willing to make dresses to your own design.  If there isn't one close to you, try looking in a neighbouring area - when you find someone, just give them a ring - I am sure they will be willing to help.

My prom is in July and there is no dress that fits me.  I'm a size 6 and I'm into the long slim ones.  My friends are all wearing puffed out ones, so I want to stand out.  What do you think?

This year, girls seem to be choosing both the full skirted dresses and the long straight ones, so you should be able to wear either - whichever you feel more comfortable with.  As for the size, you should be able to find plenty of size 6's around now.  A couple of years ago, they were very hard to get hold of, but now most suppliers have woken up to the demand for beautiful long dresses in small sizes.  Most of the small shops listed in our dress directory now stock them, so have a look for one near you and give them a ring.
